At City of Darwin, residential rate payers are provided with a pre-cyclone clean-up service. The pre-cyclone clean-up service is similar to a hard rubbish collection to help residents tidy up their yard in preparation for the cyclone season. The clean-up removes items which could become dangerous missiles in the event of a cyclone.
Commercial rate payers (businesses) are not entitled to a collection.
The Northern Suburbs Pre-Cyclone Clean Up took place from Sunday 28 August 2016. Waste from the following suburbs was collected:
Alawa, Anula, Brinkin, Jingili, Karama, Leanyer, Lyons, Malak, Marrara, Moil, Muirhead, Nakara, Tiwi, Wagaman, Wanguri and Wulagi.

- Ensure you place your items in a responsible way and keep the footpaths clear
- Be aware of potential danger of items placed on other people's nature strips
- Remember to keep footpaths clear and be mindful of the safety of others
Separate Your Items
To make collection easier, we ask that items are separated into groups with like-items. Leave a space between groups rather than bundling everything together.
Many items can be reused and recycled. To help, we ask that you separate items into groups of similar materials as each group is processed into different categories.
Here’s an example of what will be collected and how to group your materials
|For information on how to dispose of these items please contact City of Darwin on 8930 0300.|
