Each of Darwin’s three public swimming pools has an aqualift to assist people to get in and out of the water. Click here for further information regarding City of Darwin Swimming Pools.
The City of Darwin has two Liberty Swings available for use by people with mobility limitations. The Swings are located in two of the city’s regional playgrounds.
• The Variety Liberty Swing, a joint initiative with Variety NT, is located adjacent to a large inclusive playground in the Water Gardens, Freshwater Road, Jingili.
• The Liberty Swing, partly funded by the Commonwealth Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services & Indigenous Affairs, is located adjacent to the Lake Alexander Regional Playground, East Point Reserve, Darwin.
The Liberty Swings are designed for use by people of all ages and have room for a wheelchair to be strapped into them as well as a pop-up internal seat with a seat belt attached.
For safety reasons the Swings are locked when not in use. Keys to access the Swings are available free of charge. If you are interested in obtaining a permanent key to access the swings please complete the application form and return it the City of Darwin office via fax to 8930 0644, email to firstname.lastname@example.org, by mail to GPO Box 84, Darwin, NT, 0801 or in person to Customer Services section, Civic Centre, Harry Chan Avenue, Darwin.
