Situated adjacent to Casuarina Drive with plenty of car parking facilities, the shared path along the foreshore at Nightcliff is used for walking and cycling. It is particularly popular in the cooler parts of the day, mornings and evenings, and especially on weekends and throughout the Dry Season.
Along the foreshore there is Nightcliff Jetty, Nightcliff Beach, Nightcliff Swimming Pool and seven outdoor exercise stations, as well as two free public tennis courts in Bill Bell Park (bounded by Casuarina Drive, Jacaranda Avenue and Aralia Street). The foreshore itself incorporates access to mangrove coastline and the beach, and features many historical WWII sites with information boards installed along the length of the path.
Nearby, the Nightcliff Markets run from 6am-2pm every Sunday in Pavonia Way (the pedestrian mall between Pavonia Place and Progress Drive). The stalls at the markets are mainly food and drinks, but you will also find arts and crafts, massage, tarot, and much more. A live music band usually plays on the stage in the middle of the markets.
Between the markets area and the foreshore you will find Nightcliff Oval, home to Nightcliff Sports Club. Nightcliff Oval is a Council owned and maintained facility, used for training and competition by Cricket and AFL. Nightcliff Sports Club also has a lawn bowls club adjacent to the clubhouse. Membership rules apply – please contact Nightcliff Sports Club for information.
