City of Darwin maintains more than 400 km of municipal local roads including associated infrastructure such as storm water drainage, footpaths and driveways. Council aims to ensure optimum and consistent city traffic flows through well-planned planned and maintained roads. Council is committed to providing a safe network by undertaking upgrading and general improvements including the the installation of traffic calming devices and roundabouts.
Council undertakes annual road maintenance, reseals, reconstruction and new works to provide a network that best meets the comfort, safety and aesthetic needs and expectation of all road users and the community as a whole.
All works within the road reserve require a permit to be obtained prior to commencing. For new developments and subdivisions there are guidelines that outline what is required.
