Update January 2014
Following further commercial and risk assessment investigations, Council agreed to proceed with the next steps of the Proposed Nightcliff Foreshore Café.
At its 2nd Ordinary Meeting on 26 November 2013 Council resolved to commit to the construction of a café provided a suitable café operator can be engaged to work with the selected design architects and builder, Hames Sharley and Ray Laurence Constructions Pty Ltd. The two teams will work together in developing a detailed design response to the brief provided by Council that includes investigating the possibility of servicing swimming pool patrons.

C 31.2 Nightcliff Foreshore Café Report No. 13A0199 DLEE:ns (26/11/13) Common No. 2191683 (Elix/Worden)
A. THAT Report Number 13A0199 DLEE:ns entitled Nightcliff Foreshore Café, be received and noted.
B. THAT, subject to the successful identification of a suitable operator, Council commit to the construction of the Nightcliff café/restaurant at a total capital cost of up to $1.5 million, including the stage 1 expenditure to date.
C. THAT Council select Hames Sharley and Ray Laurence Constructions for further development of the Nightcliff foreshore café project.
D. THAT Northwest Constructions and Manuel Liveris Architects be advised that their proposal is unsuccessful.
E. THAT a report identifying the terms and conditions of operation and the process for identifying a suitable operator be considered by Council at the December 2013 Ordinary Meeting.
F. THAT a report on the costing of a precinct plan for Lot 8657, be brought to the December 2013 Ordinary Meeting.
G. THAT the decisions be moved into the Open section of the meeting by 6 December 2013.

Council agreed at its meeting in December 2013 on the process to call for Expressions of Interest for a suitable café operator and the terms and conditions of the lease. In addition, Council agreed to develop a precinct plan for Lot 8657 in relation to the Nightcliff Foreshore Café development. The full decision is available here. It is anticipated a lessee will be selected in June 2014 with final design work completed by September 2014. Construction of the Café is expected to commence in October 2014.
