Dogs

Some 10,000 dogs are registered in the Darwin Municipality and Council receives about 2,000 dog complaints a year! Responsible pet ownership and de-sexing of  pets are strongly encouraged, as is regular exercise for your dog.

Bored dogs bark and annoy the neighbours and barking dogs can attract a $100 fine! Make sure you keep your dog in your yard as strays can attract an $80 fine.

Council has a handy Pet Care Handbook which is mailed to owners upon registration of their dog. It is also available through the public libraries, the Civic Centre or by phoning 89300 606.
