Citizen, Young Citizen and Community event of the year

Darwin City Council is calling for nominations, for the Australia Day Local Government Awards on behalf of the Australia Day Council NT.

Nominations open today and close on the 14th December 2007. The Award categories are Darwin Citizen of the Year, Darwin Young Citizen of the Year and Darwin Community Event of the Year.

The Awards are announced just prior to Australia Day and presented at the Lord Mayor’s flag raising and citizenship ceremony on Australia Day, 26th January 2007.

Past recipients of the awards have included a Darwin policeman, a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, the Darwin Chorale, the contribution of a citizen to music education, a young student who represented their school at a national forum and the Filipino Australian Association’s Barrio Fiesta event.
