Seniors services
Many elderly people get great enjoyment from visiting their local library. Darwin City Council libraries provide a number of services that make things easier for these valued patrons. All the libraries provide magnifying glasses, large print books and spoken word cassettes and CDs as well as other helpful services.
Frail aged patrons who can no longer make the trip to their library can take advantage of the Homebound Service, which delivers books, magazines, newspapers, CDs and other materials to people's homes once every three weeks.
During Seniors Month in August each year, the Council libraries offer special activities and events to support and promote greater awareness of the positive aspects of ageing and increase participation by older people in social and recreational activities.
