Paying by instalments
Darwin City Council rates can be paid in instalments. The annual rates notice you receive will stipulate the installment amount required and the date by which the payment must be made. If you prefer, you can pay the full annual amount in one hit. The Council can charge penalty interest on overdue amounts.
The instalment payment dates usually fall around 30 September, 30 November, 31 January and 31 March. Occasionally this timing changes and public notices are placed in the NT News to advertise the dates.
