LAUNCH provides young people in Darwin with high quality opportunities for active community participation. Our programs include event training, live music gigs, skate competitions, sports programs, youth week activities and skill building via our Get That Job school holiday workshops.

The range of events and activities on offer via LAUNCH changes from year to year and is informed by our Young Darwin Youth Strategy and young people themselves via our LAUNCH youth events team and Council’s Youth Advisory Committee. Some of our regular programming includes:

  • LAUNCH Skate Calendar
  • LAUNCHmedia - annual training and development program
  • LAUNCH emerging producer program - annual training and development program
  • LAUNCH Night Series Basketball
  • Couch Surfing - partnership with Anglicare NT for Youth Week
  • Get That Job School Holiday Workshops - previous activities have included barista skills, first aid, public speaking, bicycle maintenance, make up artist and more
  • AFL Clinic - partnership with AFL NT
  • Geektacular Playhouse @ GeeCon

LAUNCH works with young people aged 12-25 who live, work or study in the Darwin municipality.

LAUNCH Night Series is a late-night, social inclusion, basketball tournament for young people aged 12-17. We hold four month long tournaments a year on Saturday nights at Casuarina Senior College.

Our Skate Park at Jingili Water Gardens is well used by Darwin’s skate communities. To grow use of the facility Council’s LAUNCH program offers a range of events throughout the year.
