She has a Masters in Development Management from NT University and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Originally beginning her career a Graphic Designer at the Museum and Art Gallery of NT, she later returned to study and established the first Indigenous women’s ranger programs for the Northern Land Council. She has worked for Fred Hollows Foundation as a researcher into combating iron deficiency in young children and been project manager for COOLmob, the Environment Centre’s sustainability program.
She lived in Botswana for three years where she trained art teachers, owned a graphic design business, worked as a journalist, set up a community-based museum and helped establish the country’s first Women Against Rape group.
Alderman Knox has board experience supporting children’s soccer clubs, has served on school councils, and has been an active member of sailing and hockey clubs.
She is passionate about sustainable tropical urban planning and design; cooling the municipality; community arts; facilitating and supporting active lifestyles; nurturing an inclusive multicultural community; promoting accessibility for all; supporting Darwin’s unique environment and wildlife; and improving animal management.
