Check out our recent projects!

We have recently completed a number of key projects as part of the Capital Works Program.

Nation Crescent Park

City of Darwin installed a 1/3 sized basketball court in Nation Park

The project commenced in April 2020 and was completed in June 2020.

East Point Exercise Equipment Upgrade

The exercise station at East Point Reserve has been upgraded and replaced with a larger Calisthenics-style street workout station. The design has elements that are considerate to people in wheelchairs, providing an inclusive exercise facility. The new station includes:

  • Installation of approximately 10m x 20m Calisthenics-style street workout station with rubber soft fall, as shown in image below.
  • Installation of improved signage

East Point Exercise Equipment

This was a joint project between local social exercise group Bar Brothers and Sisters, the Northern Territory Government and City of Darwin.

Nightcliff Foreshore Exercise Equipment Upgrade

The new stations have a range of different equipment, with a mix of static and dynamic pieces to cater to all fitness levels and preferences. 'Static' refers to equipment that has no moving parts where the user performs weight-bearing exercises and other functional movements. Monkey bars are an example of static equipment. 'Dynamic' refers to equipment that has moving parts such as an exercise bike or elliptical trainer. A benefit of dynamic equipment is that it does not require an existing fitness or strength level.

The works included:

  • removal of existing equipment
  • installation of six new stations with synthetic softball
  • public seating

For further information regarding the project, please contact City of Darwin’s Recreation and Leisure Coordinator Clare Beacham.
