Completed Projects

Following consultation with the peak sporting bodies, sporting clubs and stakeholders, we have completed a number of projects as part of the Sports Field Plan.

These projects were funded by Council with the assistance of the Department of Sport and Recreation's Facilities and Capital Equipment Grants as well as contributions from peak sporting bodies and the sporting clubs.

Fannie Bay Oval

A reconfiguration of the oval has been completed to provide use by multiple sports.  The reconfiguration included a senior Gaelic field, a senior soccer field and three junior soccer fields.  The project also included the installation of:

  • New soccer goal posts
  • A new goal storage area for portable Gaelic training goals
  • A water bubbler and spectator seating

Gardens Oval One

Installation of rail-mounted cricket sightscreens at both ends of the ground.

Gardens Oval Two

Installation of new sleeved senior soccer goal posts for competition and training.

Jingili Oval

Installation of new AFL (Wet Season) and sleeved soccer goal posts (Dry Season) for senior and junior training.

Nakara Oval

Reconfiguration of the oval and installation of new soccer goal posts to provide three senior and two junior fields.

Nightcliff Oval

Replacement of old pine-log fencing with a op-and-bottom rail chain-mesh fence around the playing surface.  This has increased player and spectator safety and allows the cricket and AFL clubs based at the oval to introduce sponsorship signage.
