Darwin Citizen / Young Citizen of the Year

Darwin Community Event of the Year

Members of the community who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year, or given outstanding service to the community over a number of years are eligible for these prestigious awards.

The Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year Awards are provided by the Australia Day Council NT and administered by City of Darwin. Each nominee must live in the Darwin municipality. 

The Australia Day Awards include, Darwin Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year plus Darwin Community Event of the Year.

  • Darwin Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year receive an Apple iPad 32GB wifi and commemorative certificate.
  • The Darwin Community Event of the Year receives $500 and a commemorative certificate.

The Darwin Community Event of the Year Award

is open to community groups, made up of four or more people who:

  1. perform a service to the community
  2. raise funds for a community charity, event or project
  3. conduct a successful project, event or activity; or
  4. bring credit or recognition to a community through a cultural, environmental or sporting achievement.

Nominations are open until Friday 16 November 2018!

Nominate someone who you believe makes the city of Darwin a better place to live, through an ongoing contribution or an outstanding effort during the year.

Eligibility requirements

The awards are there to recognise individuals and groups who have contributed above and beyond to the community.

  • Nominees for Young Citizen of the Year must be 29 years or younger on 26 January 2019.
  • Nominees for Citizen of the Year, must be 30 years or older on 26 January 2019.
  • All nominees must be a resident of the Darwin municipality.
