International Women's Day

International Women's Day is an annual global event recognising the achievements of women from all walks of life while calling for greater equality. An international program of diverse activities is held all over the world in celebration of this event.

City of Darwin, along with the United Nations Association of Australia NT Division, Northern Territory Government Office of Gender Equity and Diversity, City of Palmerston and Trafficwerx NT are proud to host the 2019 International Women's Day Walk and Celebrations for the tenth year.

International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress, to call for change and to celebrate the courage and achievements of the women who changed history, and those who will advance gender equality into the future.

The walk and celebrations will commence:

8.30am - Gather in the Civic Centre courtyard (Harry Chan Avenue, Darwin CBD).
9.00am - The International Women's Day Walk gets underway with a short walk through Darwin CBD (including The Mall).
9.30am - At the conclusion of the walk, join in the International Women's Day Celebrations in Civic Park (Harry Chan Avenue, Darwin CBD) including live music by local NT artist Phoebe Wear, information stands and food and drink stalls (available for purchase) from the Malak Marketplace - Organic Farmers Market.

Free bus travel on the Darwin bus network (between 7.00am to 5.30pm on Saturday 9 March 2019) is available to participants who have downloaded the International Women’s Day flyer from the City of Darwin website: darwin.nt.gov.au

All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
