From musical bingo to street art walks, First Nations painting classes to drumming workshops, Seniors Month in Darwin this August is packed full of great activities.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said there were more than 20 free events City of Darwin created specifically to celebrate and cater for local seniors.
“Times have changed and the seniors of today are focusing more on their health, mobility and enjoying a great social life, and the program really does have something for everyone,” Mr Vatskalis said.
The drumming workshops are back due to popular demand, with other events including:
- six different walks including street art, historical, dog-friendly, and nature-based
- drumming workshops
- movie screenings
- musical Bingo
- group exercise sessions
- therapy dogs session
- Fun Times with Grandparents
- mosaic and origami workshops
- First Nations Painting Workshops on canvas
- and much more
The month will culminate with the always-popular Conversations with Senior Territorians on 31 August. This year features 2023 NT Senior Australia of the Year Bernard Tipiloura and fellow nominee Lesley Woolf.
All events are free.
