Operating hours

Council business hours are Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm. 

Regulatory Services have staff rostered across a range of functional areas 7 days a week, for animal-related issues outside of the normal council operating hours please call (08) 8930 0900.

 

Reporting a dog attack

If you or someone else is in immediate danger CALL 000.

Regulatory Services are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to receive reports of a dog attack. Rangers may respond to these cases to safely contain an attacking animal or to obtain evidence 24 hours a day, where required.

 

Dog and Cat pick ups

If you choose to take possession of a stray dog or cat afterhours; collection after 5 pm is not guaranteed.

Rangers may collect the animal during daylight hours if an on-call response unit is available.

 

Roaming Dogs

If the animal is placing people or road users in immediate danger CALL 000.

If you sight a roaming dog or cat afterhours and no one is in immediate danger lodge a report here.

Any evidence you have obtained (photos, videos) can be attached to this report and Regulatory Services will review this during business hours.

 

Injured Animals (including Dogs or Cats)

City of Darwin does not have a veterinary service.

If you take possession of a sick or injured animal, you may be required to treat or seek treatment for the animal to comply with the Animal Protection Act.
