Creative Strategy 2024 - 2030 

The Creative Strategy 2024 - 2030 aligns with the strategic directions of Darwin 2030 — City for People, City of Colour.  Shaped through extensive community consultation, the Creative Strategy intersects with other strategies across City of Darwin including our Reconciliation Action PlanAccess Strategy 2025 – 2030Economic Development Strategy and others.  

The Creative Strategy draws from the Darwin community’s participation and wisdom to nurture and grow the creative lives of all who live, work, play and study across the municipality. To read or download a copy click here.

Percentage for Arts Policy

Public Art and Cultural Development Policy 

This policy refers to City of Darwin initiatives and activities occurring across the Darwin municipality, including: 

  • public art 
  • best practice for engagement of artists 
  • City of Darwin’s legal responsibilities, including the handling of intellectual and artistic property.

These two policies are key components of the Creative Strategy 2024 – 2030, a seven-year place-based strategy structured around three focus areas: 

  • Celebrating Larrakia: celebrating Larrakia culture, story, places of significance, artists and creativity increasing understanding and visibility 
  • Distinctly Darwin: we are rich in multiculturalism, biodiversity, dramatic natural environments and iconic landscapes 
  • Invigorating spaces: reimagining existing, unused and unconventional spaces to better support creative development and creative sustainability
