There are a number of parks and reserves across the municipality where the consumption of alcohol is allowed during specified hours.

Special permits may be applied for outside of these hours by contacting our Customer Service team on 08 8930 0300

Alcohol Restricted Areas

You are not permitted to consume alcohol at anytime in the following locations

  • Bicentennial Park, The Esplanade
  • Bundilla Beach, Fannie Bay.

Alcohol Consumption Regulations

The regulations around drinking alcohol in public spaces in Darwin and across the NT have some complexities and are not always well understood.

Did you know? Drinking in public places in Darwin is generally not allowed within two kilometres of a licensed premises (whether or not it is operating) unless it is a council area with exemption periods. If you want to consume alcohol in these areas, you will require a permit.

Permits for Alcohol Restricted Areas

The public may apply for a permit to consume alcohol in a Restricted Area for special events or functions.
