The Data Insights Platform is now live at: https://smart.darwin.nt.gov.au
City of Darwin has launched a new Data Insights Platform, offering the community greater access to a wide range of data collected through Council services and operations across the city.
City of Darwin Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the platform reflects City of Darwin’s commitment to transparency, innovation, and community engagement.
The platform brings together information from public sources, such as the Census and City of Darwin data, making it easier for residents, businesses and visitors to understand how the city functions.
Data is presented through interactive dashboards, datasets and analytical reports, covering broad topics such as economic development, climate and environment, Live Movement dashboards and other trends shaping life in Darwin.
Rather than publishing raw data, the platform also features Data Stories – clear, easy-to-understand explanations that help users quickly understand what the numbers mean and why they matter.
The platform includes Live Movement dashboards, allowing users to view 24-hour real-time information such as activity levels at public pools, open spaces, shared path usage as well as cruise ship arrivals.
The data can be instrumental for certain industries such as tourism, retail and hospitality businesses to help make informed decisions such as operating hours based on the place intelligence data, including people counts and night-time economy insights.
The platform supports City of Darwin’s strategic direction by making data open and accessible, encouraging informed community participation and helping contribute to a smarter, more sustainable and inclusive city.
Users can also create their own graphs, charts and maps using available datasets, with a range of how-to guides available to help people learn how to use the platform’s analytical tools.
