City of Darwin is pleased to share the Place and Liveability Plan 2050, a bold, community-led roadmap to enhance our city’s liveability — creating safer streets, greener and cooler spaces, more vibrant neighbourhoods, and stronger community connections.
When developing this Plan, community engagement captured diverse perspectives on the unique needs, values, and characteristics of Darwin. The engagement approach was designed to provide avenues for people of all age groups, genders, and cultural backgrounds to contribute to the Plan and identify their aspirations for a more liveable Darwin into the future. Questions focused on what liveability means to individuals and asked them to prioritise key liveability principles, to share their ideas for what could make Darwin more liveable.
The Plan is supported by the new interactive Liveability Platform, a digital tool that brings together data and community insights on local projects, showing how changes to our parks, streets, and public spaces are enhancing liveability across the city. It also serves as an ongoing engagement tool, inviting residents to share feedback or suggest improvements in their neighbourhoods using liveability principles.
By sharing your ideas, you can help shape real-world projects and contribute to a more connected, vibrant, and liveable Darwin for everyone.
Together, we’re planning for a city that reflects Darwin’s unique identity and values — one that is inclusive, sustainable, resilient and truly connected.
