Damaged or Unserviceable Driveways
If you are concerned about the serviceability of your driveway, you can request an inspection.
Driveways that are assessed to be more than 50% damaged will be replaced at Council's cost. If they are considered to be less than 50% damaged then repairs will be undertaken by Council or the owner can request to have it replaced at their own cost.
Requesting a Concrete Driveway
At your request an existing bitumen driveway may be replaced with a concrete driveway. The owner of the property must contribute towards the cost of materials and labour on a pro rata basis.
Under the City of Darwin By-Laws, Council can insist that a driveway which has not been constructed according to standard, be reinstated or repaired as necessary. Council may recover any costs from the property owner.
The width and specifications of driveways is determined by whether the property is residential or commercial and is illustrated in the standard drawings.
