For the first time, City of Darwin is offering $50,000 in funding to support groups and activities taking place during Reconciliation Week (27 May to June 3, 2024) and NAIDOC Week (7 July to 14 July 2024) Applications for Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week funding are open from 1 March 2024 to 3pm 28 March 2024.
The minimum amount of funding to apply for is $5,000 the maximum amount that can be applied for is $25,000. Applications must be submitted through SmartyGrants.

Reconciliation Week funding (For activities between 27 May and 3 June)
Reconciliation week is held from 27 May to June 3 every year. It is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements. It is a time dedicated to building positive, respectful relationships between Australians and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' culture. The theme for 2024 is “Now More than Ever”.
First Nations communities, registered businesses and associations are all encouraged to apply for funding to run an activity or event in Darwin that takes place during Reconciliation Week including:
- Activities that connect community and encourage participation.
- Activities that actively promote Reconciliation.
NAIDOC Week funding (For activities between 7 July to 14 July)
NAIDOC week is a week-long celebration held from 7 July to 14 July every year. It celebrates history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Every year NAIDOC Week has a theme, the theme for 2024 is "Keep the fire burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.”
First Nations communities, registered businesses and associations are all encouraged to apply for funding to run an activity or event in Darwin that takes place during NAIDOC Week including:
- Activities that celebrate Larrakia or other First Nations achievements or history
- Activities that connect community and encourage participation.
- Activities that actively promote Reconciliation.
WHO CAN APPLY?
- First Nations organisations that are registered with Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network or Supply Nation
- Organisations that are incorporated not-for-profit or community groups/individuals that are auspiced by an incorporated organisation.
- Activities must occur within the Darwin municipality.
- Activities need to be inclusive and accessible.
