Located in the customer service area of the Civic Centre, Taleena Lui-Villaflor's artwork Three Green Sea Turtles (Doedleera) is about connection to Larrakia Country and strength in culture.
Always returning to the ocean from the land on Larrakia Country, Doedleera travel freely and always find their way back to family and home. The artwork represents the artist's dedicated to her First Nations heritage and the connection to land, sea, people and animals. The artist takes pride in sharing her knowledge, especially with young people.
Meet the Artist
Taleena Lui-Villaflor is a proud descendant of the Larrakia people, the traditional owners of the Darwin region. She began creating art from a young age, learning many designs and styles from her grandmother June Mills.
Taleena is involved in projects for young people through the Larrakia Nation Family and Culture Centre, where she shares her knowledge, art, style and designs. As a Cultural Educator, she also facilitates workshops for young people. She has experience creating designs for public art projects for a range of local service providers.
