2025 International Women's Day Walk and Celebrations
Head down to Civic Park on Saturday 8 March 2025 and join in the International Women's Day Walk and Celebrations!
International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress, to call for change and to celebrate the courage and achievements of the women who changed history, and those who will advance gender equality into the future.
This a free community event. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Accessibility
This is an accessible event with an Auslan Interpreter at the pre walk speeches and a short course option available. If you have access queries please contact the Community Development Officer on 8930 0300.
Getting to the event
Parking is free on street in zones B & C on Saturday mornings (fees apply zone A, 8am to 2pm Saturday). Parking is free off street at the Civic Centre, Nichols Place, and Darwin Oval. There is a paid parking option at the State Square car park. Please note West Lane Car Park will be closed on this day. There is FREE BUS TRAVEL available on the Darwin bus network.
Wear purple and bring your banners, hat and water bottle!
Event lineup
- 8:30 am - Gather in the Civic Centre courtyard (Harry Chan Avenue, Darwin) for giveaways, Welcome to Country, entertainment and Smoking Ceremony
- 9:00 am - Follow the Darwin City Brass Band and walk through the city streets finishing at Civic Park. Joining the walk will be our Kool Kats, Roving Performers and other guests.
- 9:15 am to 11:00 am

- Power and Water trailer to top up your bottle!
