Changes to Library access and book drop

Construction of the new Civic Centre building will soon commence. The current Civic Centre carpark and nearby entrance will be closed from Monday 28 April and remain closed while works take place. The City Library will remain open and will be accessible from the Civic Centre Customer Services’ entry near Civic Park. 

Please note that the City Library returns chute will be temporarily unavailable. A new Book Drop will be installed at the Cavenagh St side of the Civic Centre soon. 

We kindly ask all customers to:

  • return items inside the Library during opening hours, or
  • use one of the 24/7 return chutes located at Casuarina, Nightcliff or Karama libraries.

City of Darwin Libraries are situated in Darwin City, Casuarina, Karama and Nightcliff. Members and non-members are welcome to enjoy the spaces and use the resources in the libraries.

It is free to join the library for NT residents. Members are able to borrow books, DVDs, robots and more. Members also have access to a range of online resources such as ebooks, digital magazines, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) training and more.

Get online with our free wifi and use the computers and printers. Check out our 3D printer too.

There are heaps of programs for people of all ages. You can enjoy Story Time and school holiday activities, learn coding, join a Book Club, and meet up with other seniors. Keep up to date with the latest events with the Libraries monthly eNewsletter and our Facebook page.
