Playgrounds
City of Darwin is currently undertaking a Playground Strategy, auditing all 125 parks with playgrounds.
The results of which shall guide the installation, replacement and rationalisation of all playgrounds, outdoor exercise stations and other recreation assets across the municipality.
This strategy shall guide decision making around future upgrades to Darwin’s open spaces ensuring equitable distribution to quality playgrounds and assets.
Development of the Strategy will involve a municipality-wide community engagement process, which Council encourages all residents to take part in.
Information will be available on the Engage Darwin website: https://engage.darwin.nt.gov.au/
Sports
Recent upgrade works to lighting at Gardens Oval One, Bagot Oval and Nightcliff Oval have provided the opportunity for nighttime training, games and other events. These projects were funded by Council, with the assistance of the Department of Sport and Recreation's Facilities and Capital Equipment Grants as well as contributions from the peak sporting bodies and sporting clubs.
Recreation
We have some great, free to use outdoor recreation facilities across Darwin. With new and upgraded exercise equipment, Darwin residents can be more active and healthy.
