E-waste, or electrical waste, includes broken and unwanted electrical items, such as old computers, TVs, mobile phones and cables. E-waste may contain metals like mercury and lead that we don't want ending up in landfill where the toxins can leach into our soil and waterways.
Lots of e-waste can be recycled, so please keep your e-waste out of landfill and drop it off for recycling.
Firstly, electrical equipment that is still in a saleable condition can be donated to the Shoal Bay Trash & Treasure Shop for reuse or repurposing. Otherwise, e-waste that is no longer saleable can be dropped off at the Shoal Bay Transfer Station for recycling.
Another option is to deliver your television and computer e-waste to participating businesses under the National Television & Computer Recycling Scheme.
