The 10 year strategic plan Darwin 2030: City for People. City of Colour. is Council's ultimate strategy and vision for the City - the Strategic Plan informs Council’s strategic planning framework and is the basis upon which Council determines its strategic platforms (or strategies) and then measures its performance against these in order to demonstrate its effectiveness to the community. The Strategic Plan outlines 5 Strategic Directions and was developed in consultation with the community, business and government stakeholders.
Council has endorsed five strategic directions, which regularly reports its performance against to the community to achieve its vision.

Council’s strategic role
Council fulfils a number of important roles in being responsive to the needs, interests and aspirations of the community. Council’s role in delivering the strategic actions in the plan can be a provider, a funder, a regulator, a partner, a facilitator, or an advocate.
