City of Darwin is proud to support our community by providing a range of funding opportunities, including Sponsorship, Community Grants, Environment and Climate Change Grants, and In-kind Support.
City of Darwin recognises the importance of funding to support the delivery of new or existing programs, services, facilities, projects, or events, which contribute to the quality of life for the Darwin community and enable the City of Darwin to deliver on Darwin 2030 – City for People. City of Colour.
Over $1 million each year is committed to eligible businesses, groups, and organisations. It comprises of the funding streams:
Sponsorship Program
Each year, City of Darwin provides over $400,000 funding for the community via the Sponsorship program. Priorities for this program are business projects or events that create value for the social, economic, cultural and environmental life of the Darwin. Read more
On 27 Feb 2024, Council made a resolution to adopt and implement a new Funding Policy. This new policy setting means City of Darwin’s Operational Subsidies program is being integrated into the Sponsorship program under the City of Darwin Funding Policy, the community organisations or the previous recipients are now directed to apply for funding through the sponsorship program to fund their operation costs. These proposals will be assessed using the same criteria as used in the sponsorship round application process.
Community Grants
Each year, $100,000 is available in allocations of between $1,000 to 10,000 with the priority areas of active reconciliation; partnerships between community groups; and active engagement and leadership by underrepresented populations including culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Environment and Climate Change Grants
Each year, $50,000 is available for projects that have positive and measurable environmental outcomes for the City of Darwin and the Darwin community and deliver on one or more strategic actions across City of Darwin's 2030 Greening Darwin Strategy, Climate Emergency Strategy and Waster and Resource Recovery Strategy. Letter of Support Request
If you are looking to apply to other funding programs where the project will support the Darwin community and enable the City of Darwin to delivery on Darwin 2030, we may be able to assist by providing a letter of support. Please complete the Letter of Support Request form at least 10 business days before required.
