About Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility

SBWMF is the only licenced landfill in the Greater Darwin Area. It includes best practice lined landfill cells, a waste transfer station, a recycling facility, a reuse shop, a green waste processing area and a renewable energy facility.

Shoal Bay receives over 180,000 tonnes of waste per annum and operates in a unique tropical environment under an environmental protection licence.

Our aim is to reduce the volume of material entering the landfill at SBWMF by encouraging the separation of materials that can be reused or recycled to support a circular economy.
