Councillor Shani Carson

Councillor Shani Carson was elected to the City of Darwin Council in 2025 to represent Richardson Ward. A long-term Territorian, she now lives in Lyons with her family and brings a strong connection to the community along with a commitment to ensuring Council delivers real value for residents.

Councillor Carson has worked across retail, construction, the not-for-profit sector and public service, building broad experience in stakeholder engagement, project management, event management and community initiatives. She is also an active volunteer, contributing many years to schools, local sports and industry groups, reflecting her belief in strengthening community through participation.

Guided by her principle of “Value for Community”, Councillor Carson's priorities on Council include smart local spending, ensuring every ratepayer dollar delivers long-term benefit, improving streets and public spaces so they are safe, functional and welcoming, strengthening local voices in decision-making, building stronger community connections and planning sustainably for the future.

Outside of Council, Councillor Carson is married with two adult children. She enjoys an active lifestyle, including beach volleyball, parkrun and hiking, and is proud to serve her community by helping make Richardson Ward, and the City of Darwin as a whole, a vibrant, connected and liveable place.
