The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is the governing body for drone and model aircraft use in Australia. If you are looking to fly a drone in and around the Darwin municipality you should be familiar with these regulations.

Flying drones on council land
The use of drones and other unmanned aircrafts on City of Darwin owned land are subject to CASA rules and regulations. This includes but is not limited to:
- Parks
- Road reserves
- Community centres
- Car parks.

If you have a complaint surrounding the use of drones in your area or on council land, you can report it to CASA.

Recreational drone flying
There are two venues in Darwin that allow recreational drone flying:
Third parties, such as individuals or businesses wishing to fly drones on or over City of Darwin land may require approval from City of Darwin as a condition of CASA approval. If this applies to you, please email Privacy@darwin.nt.gov.au.
