Councillor Edwin Joseph
Councillor Edwin Joseph is determined to make Darwin a better place in all aspects. He has tertiary qualifications in Business, ICT, Migration Law & Practice, Training & Assessment and Human Resources and has worked for NSW, NT and Commonwealth governments. He also worked as a lecturer at CDU and overseas. He is also a registered migration agent, providing consultancy to businesses and individual clients.
Throughout his life, Councillor Joseph has been volunteering for community groups, not-for-profit organisations and professional associations, often with leadership positions at the national and local levels. His contributions include serving as the Vice Chair of the Australia Day Council NT, President of the Multicultural Council NT, Treasurer of the United Nations Association of Australia NT, a board member of the National Ethnic Disability Alliance and as a NT Divisional Council Member of the Australian Red Cross, among other things.
Councillor Joseph is driven by a passion for public life and service and has served as a Justice of the Peace since 2019. He was recognised with a Highly Commended award in the 2022 NT Chief Minister's Volunteer Awards. With a strong record of community leadership, multidisciplinary education and multifaceted career, he brings extensive experience in governance and community development to City of Darwin.
Councillor Joseph would like to foster a community-first agenda and genuine community consultation. He advocates for sustainable growth with environmental considerations, clean energy, better landscaping and improved public lighting. He is committed to supporting decisions that provides best deal to ratepayers, which includes optimal use of council resources.
