CBD Speed limit changes
From Wednesday 1 November 2023, the speed limits on most Darwin CBD streets will become 40 kilometres per hour. Low-speed city environments have economic, social, health and environmental benefits. Reduced speed limits help create greener and cooler cities by improving air quality and reducing noise pollution and traffic collisions.
City of Darwin maintains more than 450km of local roads including associated infrastructure such as storm water drainage, footpaths and driveways. Our aim is to ensure safe, efficient and consistent city traffic flow through well planned and well maintained roads.
