Council's Assertive Outreach Team works with many partner agencies to link vulnerable people with a range of services such as:
· Accommodation;
· Health and wellbeing services;
· Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) services;
· Legal and material aid;
· Other support services as required;
· Transport; and
· Advocacy and assistance as required.
The Assertive Outreach Team works Monday to Friday, starting early in the morning each day in City of Darwin owned or controlled public places such as parks, reserves, and beachside areas. The Team works closely with a range of partner agencies using a strengths-based approach to providing assistance and advocacy for vulnerable people. The service engages with people on a voluntary basis and has no regulatory powers.
