City of Darwin’s much-loved Geektacular is back, bringing a full day of creativity and all things geek to Casuarina Library on Saturday 17 January 2026.
Designed by fans, for fans, Geektacular celebrates geek culture in all its forms – from cosplay and gaming to art, dance performances and a scavenger hunt. The free event is aimed at young people aged 15 to 25 and is a standout highlight of City of Darwin’s school holiday program.
Acting Lord Mayor Patrik Ralph said Geektacular continued to grow as a platform for young people to showcase their creativity and passions.
“Created by young people for young people, this unique event offers a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and celebrate everything that makes geek culture so fun,” Mr Ralph said.
“Delivered by a team of emerging producers and providing a platform for creative self-expression, Geektacular is a great example of young people contributing to the creative and cultural life of our city”, he said.
This year’s event features a jam-packed program, including a minimarket showcasing local young creatives, a cosplay competition, art workshops, and Dungeons and Dragons campaigns.
Geektacular will also feature an art exhibition from talented young artists, plenty of gaming options, karaoke sessions and a Lo-fi Lounge where you can retreat if the vibrancy of Geektacular gets too much.
