City of Darwin is encouraging community organisations to apply for funding under its latest community grant program, supporting projects, activities and events that help make Darwin a more connected, inclusive and vibrant place to live. 

Two funding rounds are offered each year, with Round One open for applications from today, 1 March, until 31 March.  

City of Darwin Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the Community Grants program is about supporting the people and groups who make Darwin the vibrant and welcoming place it is. 

“These grants help bring our community together - supporting the local organisations, events and activities that create connection and celebrate what makes Darwin unique,” Mr Styles said. 

“We support projects that foster reconciliation, strengthen connections between community groups, and create meaningful opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds.” 

The program supports initiatives that contribute to reconciliation, encourage meaningful partnerships between community groups, and ensure activities are inclusive, accessible and welcoming to all, he said. 

“Community grants program previously supported a range of outstanding initiatives, including the Abilities Unleashed Multi Sport Days, the Caring for Kids First Aid Course for families at Playgroup NT, Bus Stop Films’ Inclusive Filmmaking & Showcase Darwin 2025, the International Men’s Day MultiSport Event, and the 40 Years of Pride community event. I look forward to seeing the applications submitted in this round,” he said. 

Grants of between $1,000 and $10,000 are available to eligible organisations, with applications open from 1 March to 31 March 2026, for projects delivered between 1 July and 31 December 2026. 

All funded activities must take place within the Darwin municipality and be inclusive and accessible to the broader community.
