It is however a legal requirement for all cats and dogs over twelve weeks of age, living in Darwin municipality to be registered with City of Darwin and microchipped with a national pet register.

During December City of Darwin residents can book to have their cat or dog desexed, registered and microchipped for just $10.

On average desexed pets enjoy better health and owners notice a reduction in nuisance behaviours.
