Darwin residents have the chance to snap up free native plants thanks to City of Darwin’s popular native plant giveaway program.
More than 2000 native trees, shrubs and grasses will be available at each of collection locations across the municipality.
City of Darwin Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the native plant giveaways contribute to creating a cooler, cleaner and greener city.
“These events offer residents an easy way to support the environment, while also helping to establish wildlife habitats and boost local biodiversity within their own home,” he said.
“By planting native plants at home, everyone can contribute to a cooler and greener municipality.”
These events are very popular and stocks are limited, so arriving early is recommended, he said.
Each native plant giveaway will run from 8am to 11am:
The Esplanade, Darwin City
Saturday 18 October
Garranmanuk Park, Lyons
Saturday 15 November 2025
There is a limit of six plants per household. Proof of Darwin residency must be provided.
