Pre-Cyclone clean up collections will begin across Zone 1 in Darwin on Monday.
Residents are encouraged to clean up this weekend and put items on the verge from Sunday afternoon.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said Zone 1 includes Alawa, Anula, Brinkin, Casuarina, Jingili, Karama, Leanyer, Lyons, Malak, Marrara, Moil, Muirhead, Nakara, Tiwi, Wagaman, Wanguri, and Wulagi.
“If you live in one of these suburbs, put your unwanted bulky items, which don’t fit in a wheely bin, out on the verge ready for collection,” Mr Vatskalis said.
“Our crews will start the pickup first thing Monday morning, continuing the collection in Zone 1 until Friday 15 September.
“We want to help residents get their homes and yards ready for the cyclone season, this is a great opportunity to get rid of any clutter that could become a hazard in a cyclone.”
“City of Darwin is proud to make this a free service so we can all work together as a community to make our city as safe as possible,” he said.
All items left on the kerb must be less than two metres long. The following items will not be collected: liquids, concrete, asbestos, glass or any car parts.
Zone 2 collection is from 18-29 September and includes Bayview, Berrimah, Coconut Grove, Cullen Bay, Darwin City, Eaton, Fannie Bay, Larrakeyah, Ludmilla, Millner, Nightcliff, Rapid Creek, Parap, Stuart Park, The Gardens, The Narrows, Woolner, Winnellie.
