Anula Greenbelt Exercise Station Trail - Completed March 2022
City of Darwin has committed to providing $3 million towards the Community Infrastructure Municipal Wards Program detailed in the 2020/21 Municipal Plan. This program aims to keep people in employment and make improvements across the city.
A project that has been identified as part of this program is the installation of a new exercise station trail within the Anula Greenbelt.
The Anula Greenbelt is an ideal location for a new exercise trail because of its central location, connectivity with existing pathways, and links between Anula Oval and Lee Point Road, which is well utilised.
Exercise stations are popular in Darwin, with trails located along Nightcliff foreshore, East Point Reserve and Karama. They provide the community with outdoor exercise opportunities, community connection, and activation which suits our tropical lifestyle.
Typically, exercise trails include stations that offer differing exercise experiences such as pull-up bars, chest press, etc. They are generally not large and are not considered to be visually obtrusive.
This project involves an upgrade to the existing exercise station (site 3 on the plans below) and the installation of two new exercise stations to create the exercise trail through the greenbelt.
Below is a plan showing the locations for the new exercise stations and the existing exercise station to be upgraded.
Anula Greenbelt Exercise Station Trail Plans
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it has been having on procuring materials the project was not able to progress at the specified date.
City of Darwin wish to advise that the equipment will be installed between 7 February – 21 March 2022. This is however heavily dependant on the current weather Darwin is experiencing.
Works will be conducted Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 4.00pm.
Contractors will be utilising the shared paths to commute between sites. Measures will be in place to allow safe use of pathways for members of the public.
City of Darwin kindly request that care be taken in this area during construction.
