Jingili Water Gardens New Footbridge
The Jingili Water Gardens Footbridge is no longer safe for public must be replaced to ensure continued access and public safety for our active community. Signage is in place to keep visitors informed about the closure and construction.
A brand-new footbridge is on the way. Designed for durability, the footbridge will be built to withstand monsoonal rain and king tides. The upgraded footbridge will also be wider, providing a shared access path and gentle slope to enhance accessibility for all users.
Local Darwin company BMD Pty Ltd has been engaged to deliver the works, and construction is expected to start at the end of June, with works to be completed later in the dry season (weather permitting).
During the works, the bridge will be closed to all foot and cyclist traffic.
Traffic control measures will be in place for construction and maintenance vehicles entering and exiting the site. Traffic controllers will be present as required to assist with the management of vehicles entering the site to ensure safety.
The contractor will be using machinery which may result in some noise disturbances throughout the construction period.
We understand that the footbridge is an important part of connectivity and recreation in Jingili Water Gardens. City of Darwin is committed to keeping the community informed as this important upgrade progresses.
Thank you for your patience as we work to deliver a safer, more accessible footbridge.
