Latest Update:
This project is complete.
Landscape Connection Works - Cavenagh Street, Darwin City
City of Darwin would like to advise that we will be upgrading the centre median landscaping along Cavenagh Street. Work will extend from intersection of Garramilla Boulevard Road and Cavenagh street to the intersection of Searcy Street and Cavenagh Street.
The project will include planting new trees and ground covers, as well as installing irrigation systems. These improvements are designed to enhance the visual appeal of Cavenagh Street and help create a cooler, greener city environment.
Mobilisation activities including fencing the work site and locating underground service are expected to commence in the week starting Monday 20 October 2025.
Construction is scheduled to commence on Monday 27 October 2025 and is expected to be completed by the mid-December 2026, weather permitting. The median will remain fenced until 11 March 2026 for the grass and plant establishment.
Please note that the traffic lane adjacent to the centre median will be closed throughout the construction period. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please refer to the map below, indicating the work area in red and the traffic lane closure in yellow.

Traffic control measures will be in place throughout the project to ensure public safety. Property and pedestrian access will be maintained.
Machinery will be used during construction, which may result in some noise disturbances. However, we have made every effort to schedule the works in a way that minimises disruption.
Thank you for your patience and consideration while we deliver this project for the community.
