Changes to Library access and book drop

Construction of the new Civic Centre building will soon commence. The current Civic Centre carpark and nearby entrance will be closed from Monday 28 April and remain closed while works take place. The City Library will remain open and will be accessible from the Civic Centre Customer Services’ entry near Civic Park. 

Please note that the City Library returns chute will be temporarily unavailable. A new Book Drop will be installed at the Cavenagh St side of the Civic Centre soon. 

We kindly ask all customers to:

  • return items inside the Library during opening hours, or
  • use one of the 24/7 return chutes located at Casuarina, Nightcliff or Karama libraries.

Lighting and Footpath Replacement - Bayview Seawall - Completed October 2022

We wish to advise that City of Darwin contractors have commenced the upgrading of the lighting and footpath along Bayview Seawall. The works are expected to be complete by 6 November 2022.

Traffic control and devices will be in place throughout the duration of the project to ensure public safety while the works are being undertaken. Pedestrian access along the Seawall will be reduced and closed in stages: 

•    Stage 1 - footpath closure from the Lock to Edgewater Park.
•    Stage 2 - footpath closure from the start of Bayview Seawall entrance to Edgewater Park. 

Machinery will be used by our contractor to perform the works and it is likely that you will experience some noise disturbances for the duration of the construction period. City of Darwin has made every effort to schedule
works to minimise any disturbances you may experience during this time.
