Changes to Library access and book drop

Construction of the new Civic Centre building will soon commence. The current Civic Centre carpark and nearby entrance will be closed from Monday 28 April and remain closed while works take place. The City Library will remain open and will be accessible from the Civic Centre Customer Services’ entry near Civic Park. 

Please note that the City Library returns chute will be temporarily unavailable. A new Book Drop will be installed at the Cavenagh St side of the Civic Centre soon. 

We kindly ask all customers to:

  • return items inside the Library during opening hours, or
  • use one of the 24/7 return chutes located at Casuarina, Nightcliff or Karama libraries.

Malak - Bollard Installation - Completed June 2024

City of Darwin and NT Police, Fire & Emergency Services’ Strike Force Trident taskforce collaborated to improve community safety by installing bollards in Malak. The use of bollards prevents unauthorised vehicle access and mitigates motor vehicle related threats. 

Works commenced on 20 May 2024 and were completed in approximately 5 weeks. 

City of Darwin installed bollards in the Malak and Holzerland Greenbelt areas. After the success of this project, the City of Darwin proceeded with further bollard installations in the Malak area. Additional bollards were installed around Bayfield Park, as recommended by Strike Force Trident, as well as around Moody Court and Moody Park.

This project was part of the Better Suburbs Program and was championed by the Waters Ward Councillors.  Thank you for your patience and considerations while we delivered the project.
