PEDESTRIAN REFUGE CONSTRUCTION - PROGRESS DRIVE
City of Darwin wishes to advise that we will be constructing a pedestrian refuge in the existing traffic island on the eastern approach to the roundabout at the intersection of Progress Drive & Dick Ward Drive. It will enhance visibility for both pedestrians and drivers, creating a more controlled and predictable crossing environment.
The pedestrian refuge will provide a safer crossing point on Progress Drive by allowing pedestrians to navigate one direction of traffic at a time, which will significantly reduce their exposure to moving vehicles. Small sections of existing pathways will be reconstructed in the vicinity of the pedestrian refuge.
Works are expected to commence on Thursday 8 May 2025, and expected to be completed in four weeks' time, weather permitting.
In order to implement the traffic management required to ensure the safety of all road users, some delays and inconvenience are expected in the area during construction. Please adhere to the traffic control measures that will be in place to assist with the safe delivery of these important road safety projects.
