Public Art Project - Mirragma Gunugurr-wa - Completed June 2023
Bicentennial Park will soon be the location for City of Darwin’s major public art commission depicting a story of Darwin’s traditional owners, the Larrakia, and their strong salt-water connection.
This location was selected in collaboration with Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation and the artwork will enhance an already iconic location.
Larrakia artists Roque and Trent Lee developed the concept for Mirragma Gunugurr-wa in conjunction with public art consultants GARUWA Creative.
Works have commenced and are scheduled to be completed before the end of the dry season.
Traffic control devices will be in place at all times to assist with pedestrian access in the area. Please follow any traffic instructions where necessary.
We thank you in advance for your patience and consideration.
Responsible Officer: Matthew Wheeler, Project Officer - Infrastructure.
