ROAD SPEED HUMPS INSTALLATION – MALAY ROAD, WAGAMAN
A recent traffic investigation identified a large portion of vehicles are exceeding the 40 km/h school zone speed limit near the children’s crossing on Malay Road. As such, City of Darwin is indenting to install road speed humps on Malay Road, before and after the existing children’s crossing, as shown in the attached plan.
The proposed locations for these humps were determined by several factors including the proximity to the crossing, existing road lighting, driveway access and potential utility conflicts.
This initiative aims to encourage safer driving behaviour, reduce vehicle speeds, and enhance overall road safety, particularly for children using the crossing. As children are among our most vulnerable road users, we are prioritising their safety by implementing measures aimed at lowering vehicle speeds.
On-site works commenced on Monday 28 April 2025, and are expected to be completed in two weeks, weather permitting.
In order to implement the traffic management required to ensure the safety of all road users, some delays and inconvenience are expected in the area during construction. Please adhere to the traffic control measures that will be in place to assist with the safe delivery of these important road safety projects.
