Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility Solar Panels - Completed June 2021
City of Darwin’s Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility has had solar panels installed on the roof of the Recycling and Resource Recovery Centre to reduce power consumption and move towards more sustainable operations.
The new solar system will provide a saving of around $34,000 per year, more than 50%, of the site’s energy bill and will reduce our carbon footprint by almost 97 tonnes per year, the equivalent to planting 156 trees.
The 99 kilowatt system is made up of 260 solar panels each producing up to 390 watts.
